Customer Reviews

Use the instructions as suggestions.I expected to have to provide the majority of ingredients for the projects in this kit and I was correct. However I didn't expect the recipes to have errors. We've only tried the cupcake recipe so far--not enough liquid in the recipe, we had to keep adding more milk AND cupcakes do not cook in 10 minutes, had to keep adding time to that about 15 minutes. I hope there aren't the same issues in the other "experiments". The kids were very excited about trying this out. 3Perfect for kiddos 5-7 years oldI made the mistake of opening this on a Sunday night and we did the soda fizz first. The rest of the week (every night) when we needed to be doing homework and eating dinner, all they wanted to do was more experiments! Very easy to use and the concepts were fun for the kids. The only recommendation for future editions is to have the packets be resealable. The ones that come in the package are like the mac and cheese box where it's in a paper outside/foil inside packets that, if left without taping/folding/packaging in something else, spill everywhere. 4Wouldn't reccomend.I was a bit disappointed, as was my 7 year old. We had a blast making each of the items, but only one of them turned out properly (the baking one). Some of the directions, like the one for the rock candy, were lacking and not completely clear. If your child would enjoy the act of making this stuff, as opposed to the end product you get....then this might be just what the Doctor ordered. 2Fun! Made us laughMy son really enjoys these science experiments so he has other sets but none that are edible so I wanted to try this. We've did a couple experiments and had a blast. I love that he's learning while he's having so much fun. We did one of them wrong so it tasted gross & we laughed so much at the funny faces I made. It comes with a lot of stuff & is easy to clean up (mine was missing one item but I just substituted for something at home, not worth fussing over). This one requires a few more ingredients than the non-edible science sets so I have to make a list to get the items at home for next time. Overall I'm happy with this set and will likely get other edible sets as well :) 4Worth every pennyMy daughter has this game and absolutely loves it. The Son are friends of ours is here with us quite often and when he goes home this is the first thing he tells his parents is playing tasty science. Today was his birthday so we knew just exactly what we needed to get free gift the look on his face today opening up this present from us was priceless. Worth every penny we paid put a smile on this little boy's face 5It's SCIENCE! That you can eat!I bought this for my granddaughter who attends a STEM school. She was so excited to get a science kit that she hadn't even noticed that she could eat the experiments. My daughter was thrilled with it too. It's especially nice that all of the things are common items easily found and replenished. 5My kid loved it and used it for school science project and ...My kid loved it and used it for school science project and got an A plus. My son has learnt a lot of new and interesting facts about the pH level, new chemical experiments like making fizzy soda , baking muffins using baking powder... 5Beware of priceFirst of all, I saw that Amazon is now selling this science kit for over $20, which prompted me to write this review. I bought it in 2017 for $11, and I m pretty sure that s about how much it s worth. At the time, my older daughter was 5 years old, and I bought this kit along with the Mindblowing Science and Disgusting Science kits. This one was my least favorite. The candy powder and soda taste tests had very few steps to keep kids engaged and tasted nasty to boot. Also considering that I m not a very gourmet mom, I didn t have many of the baking ingredients that were required but not included, so we basically couldn t do most of the experiments. I feel like if I need to go out and get my own ingredients I might as well buy a box of Mrs. Fields cake mix and make that with the kiddos instead. For $10-15, I recommend the Mindblowing Science kit instead. It s fun for kids about 4-8 years old and comes with most of the stuff you need to actually do the experiments. Plus, the underwater volcano is pretty cool. 2Fun But Not Entirely AccurateWhile I enjoyed teaching my nephew about acids and bases, the recipes for the cupcakes and cookies were inaccurate and made inedible treats . This kit could have taught more about chemistry by including yeast and teaching through a bread recipe. Salt retards the reaction of yeast if they are not mixed properly. The kit could have demonstrated the chemical differences and reactions of baking soda and baking powder. Overall, I d recommend it for teaching about acid, neutrals, and bases. 3Kids loved this! So farKids loved this! So far, they have spend a couple of weekend mornings with this kit (leaving me to sleep in - yey!) and then enjoying their tasty creations during the day. I have two boys ages 8 and 10, and the only thing I had to point to them to make sure they keep attention to was the difference between teaspoon and tablespoon. The first gum they made was a bit too sour but oh-so-much-fun to chew :-)Already bought another set gifting and will do again. 4
