Description
Picaria is a two-player abstract strategy game from the Zuni Native American Indians or the Pueblo Indians of the American Southwest. It is related to tic-tac-toe, but more related to Three Men's Morris, Nine Holes, Achi, Tant Fant, and others, because the pegs can be moved to create the three-in-a-row. Its not unique in that fact. An exact twin of the game can be found in Scandinavia, where its called luffarshack, and in Asia as part of the Ko-No tradition. Picaria in particular was first described in academic terms by the American game historian Stewart Culin in 1907. The game was exhaustively analyzed in 2016 by Larsson and Rocha at Dalhousie University, Halifax, Canada. Made in USA for two players ages 6+.
