Northern Toad is a regional variant of Toad in the Hole, a lively game for two or more players, perfect for tournaments or casual pub play. Players take turns throwing three wooden toads from behind an oche to a felt-topped board eight feet away, aiming to land them on the board or in the hole. The first player to score exactly 31 points wins. The game can also be played in teams of up to three.

Points are scored for toads on the board, in the hole, stacked on top of each other, and in various other bonus ways. Special bonuses and quirky twists add extra fun to the game: a 'Burton' is a toad that lands standing upright in the hole, earning a bonus point if it stands unassisted when the lid is lifted, while a 'Bed and breakfast' occurs when a single toad lands in the hole whilst a single toad remains on the surface, prompting the scoring player to shout Bed and breakfast! and the other players to reply Thank you very much!

Players can also call certain toads to secure extra points or set up a 'cannon' shot, attempting to knock a teetering toad into the hole. Other fun terms include 'Swiss toad', 'Rim toad', 'Regurga-toad', and 'Air toad'. All terminology, scoring details, and rules can be found in the included rules sheet.

The set is handmade with a wooden board and felt surface. It includes four wooden toads (if you wish to play regular Toads rules), an oche, scoreboard, chalk for scoring and a full set of rules and terminology.

Board dimensions are 35cm (L) 45cm (D) 15cm (H at the back end).
