Customer Reviews

great teaching tooli don't home school and i am not a teacher, that being said i can't tell you how many times we have grabbed these during a teaching moment for my 5 year old. they are well constructed, snap together easily (although the 1/12th blocks are a bit hard for him to pull apart) and the printed numbers do not wear off. he is even getting them when he comes across a fraction problem or even when he measures things when we bake. defiantly a good thing to have on hand. i know someone mentioned they were only printed on one side...ours do not have that problem. 5These are very helpful manipulables I use with my fifth grader to teach her fractions.Learning Resources Fraction Tower Activity Set are very helpful manipulables I use with my fifth grader to teach her fractions. I highly recommend. I also use flash cards for her, Fractions Flash Cards (which I believe were about $2.00). They have given her a basic understanding of fractions. By using both of these tools, she understands that fractions can be represented as decimals, and percentages. She can break them off and feel them in her hands. She understands that two quarters makes a half, and two halves makes a whole. She also understands from the cards that 2/3 is 4/6, and so forth. This is a worthwhile purchase, and will help your student learn and touch and understand before breaking into written problems. 5Great assisted learning tool.Great for kids learning fractions but only useful if your child is wanting to do a bit of additional learning at home. The cubes aren't exciting but definately will grow with your child since it gives the value in 3 different ways. My child is in grade 1 and I happen to buy it just before they learned fractions so my child was interested in looking at them and has helped her ace her class work and test. It has since been set aside and I guess will come out again next school year. I have also purchased the circles because they also learn fractions in pie shape. 5Great Teaching ToolI bought this manipulative to help 4th and 5th graders better understand the concepts of, and interrelationships between, fractions, decimals, and percentages. It has been especially beneficial for struggling students, especially those that are visual learners. It has really helped my students to develop a much clearer understanding of these concepts.Another reviewer commented that they were very disappointed because the pieces were not labeled on all sides. That customer must have received a faulty product. The Equivalency Cubes I received are clearly labeled on 3 sides: one side has the fraction, one has the decimal, and one has the percentage.Great purchase! 5great for math and corresponds with other productWe are a homeschooling family that likes to take a hands on approach as often as possible. I bought these because my 1st grader is just starting to work with fractions. When she had them out working with them yesterday, my high schooler wanted to play with them also. They do exactly what you would expect them to do. They are small/hand size. If you were in a classroom setting they would be great for individual students to use at their desk. One thing that really impressed me is that the colors of the bars match up to the colors of the same fractions of this circle fraction set Learning Resources - Rainbow Fraction Deluxe Circles, Math Manipulatives, For Grades 1 and Up which we purchased at the same time. The whole 1 on both is red, 1/2 is pink, 1/3 is orange and so on. This made it very easy to talk about and match up fractions for 1st grader. There are to many fractions for this to be an accident. I'm really glad I purchased them together. We will be using this math tool and it's corresponding circle set for many years to come.Another reviewer said their set didn't include the decimals or percents. Mine does, maybe they just got a set that didn't make it all the way through the print cycle. 5These are great because not only do they have the fractions for ...Just got them so haven't used them yet, but had similar ones for my oldest daughter and misplaced them. Bought these for my youngest daughter. These are great because not only do they have the fractions for each piece, but each one also has the corresponding decimal number. Will be a huge help to let my daughter see, manipulate, and truly understand how fractions compare with one another. 5Seems like the numbers should have been printed the other way ...Seems like the numbers should have been printed the other way feels like they r upside down. Like when u stack a lego u usually put the bumpy side up! But if u put bumpy side up the numbers would b upside down! So u have to put bumpy side down and then they fall over. They r a good tool just annoying they wont stand up. 2These visuals have been extremely useful for my childrenI bought these anticipating that my fourth grader would be learning fractions soon. These visuals have been extremely useful for my children, who learn best with hands on and visual teaching. It's so much easier to show that 1/5 is greater than 1/6 when they can see and compare it for themselves. My second grader and preschooler love playing with these as well. They are sturdy and made of thick plastic. The connections aren't fitting as tightly after a couple of months of use, but that is to be expected with continued use. I wish this came with a case or box to store the cubes in long term. The plastic clamshell these shipped in won't work for long term storage. 4Expert Tutor-Approved!These are an essential learning tool for any 4th or 5th grader, and for some 3rd and 6th graders, too. I have been an educator my whole career, and I specialize in preparing children for the ISEE/SSAT and/or other standardized exams at this level. I also work with children to support their regular academic work, whether it's common core or a different curriculum. Any 4th or 5th grader is working with fractions and decimals, and these are perfect for helping them make real sense of the concepts. I often start by handing a student the 1/2 cube, and then asking the student to find me as many other examples of fractions that are equivalent. The student will line up the various pieces and show me 2/4, 3/6, 4/8, 5/10, and 6/12. Then we will talk about what it might be if we had fraction cubes of 14ths or 20ths to show that any fraction equivalent to 1/2 has the relationship of the numerator being half the denominator. When adding and subtracting mixed numbers, and when converting mixed numbers and improper fractions, it's really helpful to have 2 sets of these, so you can show numbers that go above 1. Kids like handling the cubes, as they are colorful and interlocking, and even when they are just "playing" with them, they are likely still learning. A thorough understanding of fractions and decimals is so critical to learning percentages and other harder concepts in 6th grade, and these cubes are perfect for securing these foundational topics. 5Helps the visual, hands on learner master these skillsMy son uses these during his tutoring sessions and with his homework. He is a visual, hands on learner and this has helped him master the different fractions and percentages. 5
