I have sea monkeys! They started to hatch the ... I have sea monkeys! They started to hatch the next day and it s been 2 days and I have 40-50 babies.***update***Every day there are less and less! Still hoping some are alive tomorrow 5cool monkeysI buy sea monkeys once a year for fun. Its something that always get me excited. ( not because they die but i like to have them in my 10 gallon tank) They hatch almost every time. Sometimes rarely though either due to bad eggs or temperature they die or not hatch at all. Do research before purchase this is live creature so don't just dump it on a little kid or person without explaining what they are, how to care for them properly and these creatures will not look like the picture of the package at all.( Hey some believe it) When they first hatch your kids or you may not see them at all( there very very small like a piece of dust small) give it 2 weeks then throw it out if theres still nothing seen with a flash light. These eggs did hatch one baby sea monkey so far. 5MAKE SURE TO FOLLOW DIRECTIONS TO THE TEEI see a lot of bad reviews on sea monkeys and to be honest, the majority are human error whether it be too cold/hot water, not waiting in between adding items, forget to feeding them, etc.Mine are thriving. It wouldn't let me upload a video, so here is a screenshot of it. 5I LOVE THESE GUYS!!I have had no luck at all with the full kits with the tanks included, I tried 3 separate times and all three times ended in failure, once it got knocked off the counter, once I have baby monkeys and the temps dropped drastically and they froze to death, and the last time.... They just never hatched.I had almost given up.I thought maybe the TANK is the problem for me, I do find it rather ugly, and it's shape lends to accidents waiting to happen, wide and thin and tall, like a domino. And the color schemes aren't very "grown up" neon green, baby blue, pink?! So I bought a small Lee's Betta Hex Keeper, it holds 24 ounces of water. I then ordered two packets of sea-monkeys, each packet needs 10 ounces to work. I followed the directions, using 20 ounces in the betta keeper and leaving the gravel out (the monkeys might get stuck or crushed in the gravel).4 days later I have a populations EXPLOSION!!! I have so many monkeys I can't even COUNT them!!I highly suggest if you don't like the look of the sea-monkeys tanks, don't get discouraged, try something else, there's a TON of "betta tanks" here on amazon that would work fantastically for sea-monkeys! All you have to do is be sure to measure how much water you are putting in it. And use distilled water, it works 1000x better. 4Instant Life, Instant DeathI'm a grandmother, with years of experience with Sea Monkeys. I actually bought this batch to feed to my goldfish - heartless, I know, but my fish are used to an exciting life in an outdoor pond, with mosquito larvae and other random insects to chase and eat, and in the cold New England winter I have to bring them in to a boring existence in a 10 gallon aquarium. In the past, every time I have bought Sea Monkeys for children and grandchildren, the results have been spectacular. Healthy adults laying eggs, everything just right in their little world. Not this time. The few eggs that hatched developed into adults who kicked the bucket within a few days, in spite of following the directions to a T. Never had this happen before. More eggs would hatch, live for a couple of days, and then die. The bottom of my Sea Monkey environment is littered with the gross decaying dead. It's macabre. I'm going to toss this batch and give up. The fish can wait for spring. 2seamonkeysSea monkeys are five-star product; however, their little tank is well thought out and they should really only be purchased as a replacement filler for an old sea monkey tank.Sea monkeys and their starter tank can be purchased for about the same price. You must aerate their little tank daily. I have a small amount of oxygen tubing connected to a small aerator stone that I blow into twice a day. The end of the oxygen tubing fits perfectly through the little side hole on the tank top.You may want to rethink this process in terms of leaving it been 24 seven because sea monkeys get crushed and killed easily and I have had a couple die from the stone pressing against the glass because their little bit dumb as the swim and they actually swim in and get stuck.See monkey.com has a mail order form for ordering extra food and their aerator and Aqua leash which are pretty much must haves as well as extra food and plasma and more water purifier if you're serious about keeping these guys alive for a couple years.Best of luck and enjoy! 3Having funThis was ordered for my 9 year old son. He has really enjoyed it. He followed the instructions by himself, and three days later was super excited to tell me that his sea monkeys had hatched. They are still TINY, as they just hatched yesterday, but I could see the little specks swimming around when I went to confirm what my son saw. We bought them because we recently purchased a kid's microscope that came with a sea monkey hatchery that can be viewed under the microscope, but did not include the eggs. He put some in both the microscope hatchery and in a previously purchased sea monkey habitat. We'll be excited to view them under the microscope. I can't yet speak for how long they will last once hatched or how large they will grow, as they just hatched yesterday, but the instructions were easy for my son to follow on his own, and even gave him lots of things to think about and questions to ask. 5Third Time Was a Charm!I was determined to get sea monkeys so after some trial and error I finally got them to hatch and they have been swimming around happily for a couple weeks now.My first batch never hatched, which I realized was because the water was too cold (68 degrees). I used an old aquarium heater I had for the second batch and they hatched quickly but then died after a couple days. I think I kept the water too warm for them (85 degrees). So, I decided to try one more time. Before adding the eggs I warmed the water to about 80 degrees and then added the eggs, the next morning I had probably 20 of them hatched. Since then the water has stayed around 72 degrees and I just make sure to aerate it a couple times a day. We probable have about 30 shrimp swimming around now. I feed once every 5 days or so. 4No sea monkeys hereWe have had sea monkeys many times. All successful, always follow the directions. The pack of eggs looked wet on the inside when we opened it. The package was dry, but inside it was clumpy and stuck to the sides instead of being more like powder, as usual. We tried them anyway. They re a dud. Went to ask for a replacement and realized there are no returns for this item. 1Favorite micro pets! :)Everything about this was great! The sea monkeys hatched within a few days and more kept coming soon after! The food does spoil easily, so make sure you put it in a small plastic container and leave it in the refrigerator when you're not feeding them. Just remember to give yourself enough time for the food to reach room temperature again. Oh, and only use the approved containers for the sea-monkeys. I realized that the volume was equal to the salt and buffers within the packet 1 mixture. Using a larger or smaller container will not allow your sea monkeys to live very long because using a larger container will dilute out the Packet for the salts and buffers.Best of luck to your little friends! :) 5
